1. A penalty of incarceration for a period not less than (6) six months and a fine not exceeding (50,000) fifty thousand AED shall be imposed on anyone who assaults a public servant or a person entrusted with a public service, or if he resists him forcibly or violently, in the course of or because of the performance of his duties or service. 2. The penalty shall be incarceration for a period not less than one year and a fine not less than (50,000) fifty thousand AED, if the assault or resistance involves battery. 3. If any of the crimes stated in the preceding paragraph is premeditated, or committed by more than one person or by a person carrying a visible weapon, or if the assaulted public service is an employee of the security or police authorities, the penalty shall be imprisonment.
