A penalty of Imprisonment for a period not less than one year and/or a fine not less than (20,000) twenty thousand AED shall be imposed on whoever requests, for himself or for others, accepts or takes a promise or gift to use real or alleged influence to obtain or to attempt to obtain, from a public department or authority or an entity subject to its supervision, a grant, service, benefit, or any unentitled privilege of any kind. The penalty shall be imprisonment for a period not exceeding (5) five years if the perpetrator is a public servant, a person entrusted with a public service, a foreign public servant or an employee of an international organisation.
