A penalty of life or temporary imprisonment and a fine not less than (200,000) two hundred thousand AED shall be imposed on anyone who counterfeits, falsifies or forges, in any manner whatsoever, whether personally or through intermediary, a currency note or coin legally circulated in the State or in another country or a governmental security. A coin shall be considered counterfeit if any of its metal has been decreased, or if it is coated with paint making it similar to another more valuable coin.
