Article 842

1. An employment contract may be concluded for the performance of a specific work or for a fixed term, and it may also be for an indefinite term. 2. If the employment contract is for the lifetime of the employee or the employer or for a term exceeding five (5) years, the employee may, after the lapse of five (5) years, terminate the contract without compensation, provided they notify the employer at least three (3) months prior to the date of termination. 3. The term of employment shall commence from the date specified in the contract. If no date is specified, it shall commence from the date of its conclusion, unless the custom or the circumstances of the contract indicate otherwise.
