Article 48 — Article (48) Advertisements and Promotions Misleading the Consumers

Part One: Content Crimes: Article (20) Inciting the Suspension of the Provisions of the Constitution and Laws

Whoever uses an information network, any ITE, or a website to commit any of the following acts shall be punished with imprisonment and/ or a fine of not less than (AED 20,000) twenty thousand dirhams or more than (AED 500,000) five hundred thousand dirhams: 1. Promote a good or service through a misleading advertisement or technique which include inaccurate data. 2. Advertise, promote, mediate, or deal in any form or encourage dealing with a virtual or digital currency, a stored unit of value, or any payment unit that is not officially recognized in the UAE or without obtaining a license from the competent authority.
