A person who sends a copy of the bill of exchange for acceptance shall state on the other copies the name of the person who shall hold such copies in his possession, and this latter shall surrender it to the lawful bearer of any other copy. Where he refuses to surrender it, the bearer shall have no right of recourse, unless he makes a protest stating: 1. That the copy sent for acceptance has not been surrendered to him despite the fact that he requested it. 2. That the acceptance or payment was not effected under another copy.
