1. Acceptance by intervention may occur whenever the holder of a bill capable of acceptance has a right of recourse before maturity. 2. If the bill designates a person to accept or pay it when necessary at the place of payment, the holder may not exercise recourse before maturity against the person making the designation or subsequent signatories unless the bill is presented to the designated person, that person refuses acceptance and the refusal is established by protest. 3. In other cases the holder may refuse acceptance by intervention; if accepted, the holder loses pre-maturity recourse against the person for whose honour the intervention was made and subsequent signatories.
