Legal set-off shall not take effect by operation of law in the following cases: 1. If one of the two debts consists of a thing that has been unlawfully taken from the possession of its owner and is required to be returned. 2. If one of the two debts consists of a thing that has been deposited or lent for use. 3. If the right of one of the creditors is not subject to attachment. 4. If one of the two debts is a claim for compensation for bodily injury.
