If the debt is a thing determined by designation, the debtor may not perform by delivering another thing in substitution thereof without the creditor's consent, even if this substitute is of equal or higher value than the thing due. 2. If the debt is a thing not determined by designation, the debtor may perform by delivering its equivalent, even without the creditor’s consent.
