1. In bilateral contracts, if a force majeure arises rendering performance of an obligation impossible, the corresponding obligations are extinguished, and the contract is rescinded automatically. 2. If the obligation becomes partially impossible, either of the contracting parties may invoke the extinguishment of the corresponding obligation or request the court to rescind the contract. 3. If the impossibility is temporary in continuing contracts, either of the contracting parties may invoke the extinguishment of the corresponding obligation or the modification of the contract, or request the court to rescind the contract.
