Article 139

1. Contracting by representation is permissible, unless the law provides otherwise. 2. Representation in contracting may be contractual, legal, or judicial. 3. Where the representation is contractual, the instrument of authority issued by the principal shall determine the scope of the powers of the representative. 4. Where the representation is legal, the law shall determine the powers of the representative. 5. Where the representation is judicial, the court shall determine the powers of the representative. 6. The representative may not exceed the limits of powers conferred upon them.
