Opening a UBS account in Switzerland: requirements and application support

UBS AG and UBS Switzerland AG appear on FINMA's authorised list, but the relevant legal entity, product and service availability depend on the client profile and cross-border rules.

01

Who the banking model may fit

The public UBS Banking digital onboarding requires Swiss residence and tax liability. This does not mean that all non-residents are excluded: official pricing contemplates certain non-resident and wealth-management relationships, but creates no right to acceptance.

02

Documents and file architecture

A personal or corporate application requires the standard full KYC file: roles and control, tax residence, source of wealth/funds, purpose, projected transactions and structure-specific evidence. The public UBS Business Account targets Swiss start-ups, sole proprietors and SMEs and does not describe every international corporate case.

03

KYC, UBO and the bank's decision

UBS independently determines the product, booking centre, legal entity, identification channel, additional questions, pricing and decision. Smart Global Capital provides independent legal preparation and does not claim an agency, partnership or affiliation with UBS.

04

Profile-specific conditions

UBS private banking includes wealth management, investment and planning services and is not the same as a simple payment account. Product availability and suitability require separate review.

05

Support sequence

We define the banking model, conduct a legal/KYC readiness review, resolve inconsistencies across corporate, tax and banking data, prepare an evidence index and support responses. The bank remains the sole decision-maker.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does UBS open accounts for non-residents?

There is no universal answer. Some international relationships exist, but country, status, assets and risk appetite are assessed individually.

Can the public UBS Banking onboarding be used without residence?

The published digital route requires Swiss residence and tax liability; other relationships have separate processes.

Is Smart Global Capital a UBS representative?

No. We independently support the legal preparation of a file; UBS makes the decision.
