Legal issue

Without an agreed rate, credit-card interest cannot be awarded; banking terms, including interest, require agreement between the parties.

02

Published principle

The Arabic text published by the Supreme Court is the primary source. The English translation was published by the Technical Bureau; Russian and Chinese are unofficial Smart Global Capital editorial translations.

This is a published legal principle—an extract selected by the Supreme Court of Oman Technical Bureau—not the full text of the judgment.

If the parties have not agreed on the applicable interest rate, no basis shall exist for ruling thereon, especially since credit card agreements are banking transactions that require mutual agreement on all terms thereof, including interest, under the court's supervision.

03

Applicability

This is a narrow contractual principle on credit-card interest. It does not displace mandatory disclosures, fees or current CBO consumer-protection rules. The evident English-source typo “exit” is normalised to “exist”; the Arabic source is preserved in substance.
