In the presence of personal excuses exempting from or extenuating the penalty in respect of one of the accomplices in the crime, whether direct or by causation, they shall only affect the person to whom they are attached. However, the material excuses exempting from or extenuating the penalty shall be fully effective towards each person who has participated in the commission of the crime directly or by causation.
