An attempt to commit a felony shall be punishable by the following penalties, unless the law stipulates otherwise: 1. Life imprisonment, if the penalty prescribed for the crime is death. 2. Temporary imprisonment, if the penalty prescribed for the crime is life imprisonment. 3. Imprisonment for a period not exceeding half of the maximum period prescribed for the crime, or detention if the penalty for the crime is temporary imprisonment.
