1. A person who signs, without authorization, a bill of exchange on behalf of another person shall be personally liable thereunder. If he discharges said liability, the rights which would have devolved to the person on whose behalf he purported to have acted shall devolve to him. 2. The above provision shall apply to the representative if he acts beyond the limits of his powers.
