A deposit of securities with a bank is a contract under which the customer delivers to the bank the securities agreed to be deposited. On receiving them, the bank gives the customer a receipt stating the contract terms and the numbers of the securities. The receipt neither represents nor replaces the deposited securities; it is merely evidence of the contract.
